Whitchurch Alport 0-5 Hanley Town: Match Report

Hanley Town finished August unbeaten as they breezed past Whitchurch Alport 5-0 on Monday afternoon.

It didn’t take long for Hanley to score their first on the bank holiday as Kyle Stubbs stepped up for free kick and curled it around the wall into the bottom corner.

After dominating possession Hanley made it two when another one of Louis Dodds corners found the head of player/manager Carl Dickinson to double the advantage.

A mix up at the back almost found Alport a chance to pull one back but some good goalkeeping from Ben Chapman ensured that wouldn’t happen.

Right on the stroke of halftime it was three when some good work down the right-hand side saw Chris Dagnall have space to pull the ball back for Reece Jones who fired in Hanley’s third.

The second half continued with more pressure from Hanley, and this paid off when Josh Green ran up the right-hand side and crossed to the back post where Ryan Campbell-Gordon was there to fire Hanley’s fourth of the game emphatically in.

The fifth came shortly after when some good pressing from Dagnall found Jones who laid off Lucas Green-Birch to cut inside and find the bottom corner for his first for the club.

The win sees Hanley move top of the league and have the first month of the season unbeaten.

Hanley look to continue this form as they travel to Leicester Road on Saturday in the first qualifying road of the FA Cup.
