Hanley Town 4-2 Haughmond: Match Report

Hanley Town again came from behind to make it two wins out of two in the league against a very tough Haughmond side.

The visitors took the lead early on as a mix up at the back allowed for their striker to prob the ball home underneath Lewis King.

Whilst Hanley dominated possession, they were finding it difficult to make that killer pass until the 35 minute when Eric Grave’s shot inside the box was bundled in.

With both team’s level at the break it took until the 59th minute for man of the match Ben Rowley to enter the game coming on as a sub.

Two minutes after his introduction Rowley volleyed the ball home after the ‘keeper was unable to hold Ryan Campbell-Gordon’s shot dropping it right into his path.

Only five minutes later in the 65th minute Hanley had a third Charlie Walford’s cross was originally met by Rowley but the ‘keeper parried it into the path of Chris Dagnall to fire home his first in the league.

The game was wrapped up in the 85th minute when Rowley turned provider getting to the by line and pulling the ball back for Louis Dodds to fire in Hanley’s fourth.

The visitors pulled one back deep into injury time with a free kick that found the top corner from 25 yards out.

Hanley travel to Haughmond on Saturday in the FA cup hoping to make it four from four in all competitions.
