Recap

Attendance: 320

Kie Brown scored a hat-trick to help sink the Moatmen and send Hanley into the first qualifying round of the FA cup.

In a very scrappy first half, both sides struggled to get a hold of the ball, it took a 30-Yard effort from defender Kyle Stubbs to really test the Gresley defence.

The deadlock, however, was finally broken when in the 42nd minute Joe Thompson slotted Kie Brown through time neatly prod past the keeper.

The jubilation was short lived as straight from kick-off Gresley did some neat passing to find Sullivan who applied a delicate chip over Ben Chapman to level the game.

Right on the stroke of Halftime a Tim Sanders free kick tested the keeper which gave Hanley a chance from the resulting corner.

Dan Needham whipped the ball in to find the head of Josh Beaumont who nodded down to Brown for his second of the afternoon.

After the break Hanley really started to take control of the game, and the home side had the opportunity to further their advantage from the spot after Tom Ashton was brought down in the box.

Despite a very good save from the ‘keeper, Brown was there to emphatically volley home his third of the match to the delight of all in attendance.

It was then time for the introduction of ex-Premier League Striker Ricardo Fuller as he replaced the Hat-trick hero Kie Brown.

Immediately fuller got involved and created some space for himself in the box with some nice footwork before squaring the ball to Ashton who finished high into the right side of the net to pretty much secure our spot in the next round.

The game looked to be done at this point but an extraordinary solo run by substitute Brian Barton where he took on six Gresley players before neatly finishing into the net finished the rout for Hanley, with the FA cup tweeting the Goal is one of the round.
