Worcester City 0-1 Hanley Town: Match Report

Hanley left it until the last minute to continue their winning ways beating Worcester City 1-0 at Claines Lane.

Hanley had chances all through the game but it took until the last one of the game for them to break the deadlock.

So neat interplay saw Tim Sanders thread the ball through to Eric Graves who did well to round the ‘keeper and then calmly loft the ball to the head of Lucas Green-Birch to find the net.

In a game that saw Hanley dominate possession they had many chances in the first half to take the lead.

First Green-Birch forced the Worcester number 1 into a great high save from his left footed curling effort then Reece Jones just fired over.

A mix up at the back saw Worcester race through one on one but Goalkeeper Ben Chapman stood tall to deny them the first of the afternoon.

Good work from Ryan Campbell-Gordon then saw his pull back well saved by the goalkeeper before midfielder Danny Pugh dragged his rebound wide.

In a second half which saw the bulk of the battle be in the midfield Hanley’s closest chance fell to Tim Sanders.

A freekick from 25 yards out looked to be nestling into the bottom corner but a firm hand from the ‘keeper saw it turn around the post.

Hanley remain unbeaten in all competitions moving up to second in the league, a point behind leaders Boldmere with a game in hand.

They now turn their attention to Chasetown in the FA Cup at the Payaro Stadium on Saturday.
